Responsibilities

Assists pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels, and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares, and compounds non-sterile medications including hazardous medications accurately and efficiently. Assists with preparation and compounding of sterile medications including hazardous medications under the guidance of a pharmacist or tech II. Handles, manages, and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies, and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Assists with training new technician staff. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to patient age and cognitive ability. Accurately and efficiently processes prescriptions. Interacts with patients and managed care plans to authorize prescription coverage. Assembles prescriptions and follows proper procedures to prepare and dispense medications. Accurately and efficiently completes patient purchase transactions utilizing point of sale systems.

Qualifications

High school Diploma or GED.
Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.Current Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Technician license and Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT); Or,Current Arizona State Board of Pharmacy Technician or Trainee License, and National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) within 12 months of hire.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.; $20.11 - $28.20 / hour.

Operational Hours are 0730-1800, seven days a week. Schedule will average four 10-hour shifts (plus lunch) weekly.
